Spring is on the Way
Spring is on its way bringing the potential for more light, sunshine and warmth into our lives. It’s a good time for a spring clean and clear out to make way for more sunshine, light and happiness. For best results, don’t just limit your clear out to your home but extend to all aspects of yourself including your body, thoughts and emotions. Here are some ideas to help you with this. Choose one or two things from the list above to bring into your life and I hope you notice a difference in your outlook, energy levels, confidence and happiness.
Physical
De-Clutter your home. Whether you tackle a big project or just one drawer, you are clearing out the old and making space for something new energetically. Notice how differently you feel after doing this.
Do one thing that will help you feel fitter and healthier whether adding or changing some exercise, drinking more water, cutting down on processed food, eating more fruit and vegetables et cetera.
Release stress and improve your ability to feel calm and relaxed. Spend more time in nature, exercise, meditation, positive practices. Try to actively notice your stress levels throughout the day so that you can respond rather than react to stress.
Emotional
Acknowledge, validate and find an outlet for your emotions so that you are freeing up space for more happiness and to feel lighter. Please see last month’s blog for more information on this.
Review and strengthen your support network. Do you have individuals that match the following: a good listener, someone you can be vulnerable with, someone who can be honest with you, someone to make you laugh, someone who can offer an alternative perspective, someone who will accompany you or help you with tasks, someone who enjoys doing the same things that you do, someone who encourages you to be your best in a positive way. This might happen naturally or it might be helpful to find someone that you can reciprocate with.
Mental
Pay attention to your thoughts and how you speak to yourself. Weed out any limiting beliefs and consciously invest in the beliefs you wish to grow in your life by seeking out evidence to reinforce them. Here is a meditation to help you do this which you can do as often as you like. Find 15 minutes in your day and somewhere where you won’t be disturbed and can relax.
Build self-compassion and kindness in the way you speak to yourself and in the choices you make. Try to speak to yourself as you would do a friend. Focus your energy on your strengths and positive qualities or what you are learning to overcome rather than dwelling on what you think you should have done. Recognise your judgements are assumptions and not necessarily facts.
Spiritual
Do something regularly that has meaning for you i.e. something you feel passionate about, something that makes you feel good about yourself, something that helps you feel you are contributing to something bigger than yourself or something that makes your heart sing. If you don’t know yet what this is, enjoy the process of finding out.
Take some time each day to breathe from your heart space (see breathing practice below) so that you feel calm, grounded and centred. Practice gratitude from this space as well as giving energy to what you would like more of rather than dwelling on problems and lack.
Practice heart breathing. Start by taking a couple of deep breaths. Breathe in and out from your nose as slowly and deeply as you can. With each breath, try to take it a little deeper as feels comfortable. Then place a hand on your heart and with your intention breathe in and out from your heart. As you breathe in, imagine breathing in peace (picture the colour and resonance of the quality filling your heart) and breathe out love or peace, again picturing as before. Notice how differently you feel and try to repeat several times a day.
Find a belief system you resonate with and spend time with people that you can be yourself with to help you to feel good about yourself and life.
